Dr. Tracy Duffner is a licensed veterinarian and is certified in veterinary acupuncture and animal chiropractic. When seeking care from Dr.Tracy Duffner at Island Holistic Veterinary Center, LLC (IHVC), clients are consenting to treatment of their animals with acupuncture, herbal remedies, homeopathy, nutritional advice, behavior consultation, animal chiropractic, and referral for further care when indicated. Services provided are based on holistic principles. Surgical procedures and medical procedures outside of the holistic framework are not provided by this practice, and if the client requests these services, they will be referred to the appropriate practice to serve their animal's needs. Furthermore, patients referred to this practice by other veterinarians will be referred back to their primary care veterinarian for non-holistic care. The initial consultation for Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine is $235 and includes an acupuncture treatment and herbal consultation. After this, additional acupuncture sessions are $145 (per pet) unless the session goes over 45 minutes. After this time, an hourly rate of $145/hour starts. This fee will also be applied if there are follow up phone or email consultations (excluding routine email and phone reporting of laboratory or consult results). The initial consult for chiropractic care is $185 and subsequent treatments are $125. If chiropractic is being added on to an acupuncture visit, the fee for a chiropractic adjustment is $85. Travel fees for housecall visits are additional. No new small animal housecall clients are being accepted at this time. Service estimates will be provided on request. All sales on herbals, supplements, diets, treats, and homeopathic medications are final. These are prescription products and cannot be returned once opened. Furthermore, an in person examination of the pet by Dr. Duffner is needed annually (or possibly more frequently depending on the pet's condition) for prescription supplements, herbals, and homeopathic products to be filled. Payment is accepted by cash, check, or major credit cards. Payment is expected at the time of service. Payment for lab tests and medication/herbal orders will be collected up front; the order will be placed once payment is received. Medications or herbs that are not able to be drop-shipped can be picked up from the clinic location at 1000 William Hilton Parkway suite E8. Medication refill and herb requests need to be submitted by e-mail to islandholisticrefills@gmail.com.
Business hours are 8am-4pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 8am to 3pm on Friday. Routine communication will be delivered during these hours. IHVC is closed on weekends. IHVC is closed to observe all major holidays. IHVC does not take after-hours emergencies. Please contact Carolina Veterinary Critical Care in Bluffton if your pet has an after-hours emergency.
Prior to a patient's first appointment, all medical records from every veterinary practice the patient has been registered with are required to be emailed to islandholisticvetcenter@gmail.com. Medical records are necessary to properly evaluate health history for holistic treatment and to permit an efficient intake evaluation. If it is at all possible to obtain a copy of imaging and blood work results, please have these emailed as well. Dr. Duffner requires all new patients to have a TCVM questionnaire completed prior to the initial appointment. The new client/patient forms need to be completed at least 2 business days prior to the initial consultation to allow Dr. Duffner and staff time to review the information and plan for the initial visit. If the new client/patient forms are not completed in this timeframe, IHVC reserves the right to reschedule the appointment.
Island Holistic Veterinary Center requests cancellation notice of at least one business day. If an appointment is cancelled with less than one business day of notice, or if the client is a "no show" at the time of the appointment, there will be a $100 cancellation fee applied to the account, and IHVC reserves the right to charge a non-refundable deposit to schedule the patient's next appointment. For multi-pet appointments, a $100 deposit is required to schedule. Due to the difficulty both in rescheduling multi-pet appointments and in filling the gap that a cancelled appointment leaves, this deposit will be forfeited if the multi-pet appointment is rescheduled or cancelled even with more than one business day's notice.
Email and phone calls are only to be used for routine communication. Emails and voicemails will be checked several times throughout the week, but this varies with appointment schedules and practice caseload. Please allow one business day for messages to be returned. Due to the nature of this practice, the majority of doctor and technician time is spent with the clients in person, thus limiting the ability to answer and return phone calls immediately. Emails and phone messages are not monitored or responded to outside of business hours.
In reviewing and signing this document, the client is also acknowledging that the best results generally come with multimodal therapy. Dr. Duffner will often make diet recommendations, herbal recommendations, and supplement recommendations in addition to acupuncture and chiropractic care; the client understands that if the full program is not followed as prescribed, the patient may not see the anticipated results of therapy.
